A collaboration between Tramaine Suubi and our Image + Word editor Margaret Yapp.
This foldable/folded print features the poem "Mental Gymnastics" by Tramaine Suubi.
The type is handset 18 point Garamond, and the title is a hand-lettered photopolymer plate that was then cut up several times to make the background images. Also used: metal rings. 10x16 inches when unfolded. Printed on a Vandercook SP-20 in Iowa City, Iowa. 20 printed on Arches Text Wove paper and 7 printed on Mohawk paper. Edition of 27.

Tramaine Suubi (she/they) was born in Kampala and speaks four languages. She has lived in twelve neighborhoods throughout three countries. She earned a B.A. in Philosophy and French, and she is currently an M.F.A. candidate at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. While there, she has been awarded the James Patterson Scholarship and the MFA Summer Fellowship. She is passionate about all things water, queer black liberation theology, and transformative justice. She is also an alumnus of the Tin House Summer Workshop and is represented by CAA. Their poems live in Protest Through Poetry, Kiwi Collective Magazine, Plantin Magazine, and other spaces.
